Electric heating or water heating, which heating method is more suitable for you?

Regarding the choice of heating, many people say that electric floor heating is better, while some think that water and electric heating are better, and some say that radiators are better. Each has its advantages, so how should you choose?

How to choose? To be honest, there is no standard answer to this matter. It depends on your needs and plans. Below we will elaborate on it from several aspects to give you some reference.

electric floor heating

 1. Material Costs.

The cost of electric floor heating is directly proportional to the laying area. Calculated at US$40/㎡, when the floor heating area is 100㎡, it is US$4,000.

The radiator and water floor heating have a boiler, which can provide heating and domestic hot water. The price of the boiler accounts for a large proportion of the cost. When the area where water heating is laid is small, the additive ratio of using water heating is not high.

Generally, we use a paving area of 60 square meters as the dividing line. If the paving area is higher than this, it is recommended to use water floor heating or radiators. When the paving area is less than 60㎡, we recommend using electric heating.

 2. Heating Rate

Electric floor heating can be turned on one or two hours in advance. If you use it 10 hours a day, it only needs to be turned on for 12 hours. However, because water floor heating heats up too slowly, and the walls, doors, and windows in some areas are not well insulated, it takes 24 hours to heat up, and sometimes it even starts today and only heats up tomorrow. So you can't turn it off easily if it's turned on. It has to be kept open as long as there is someone there. Therefore, water floor heating is used 10 hours a day and needs to be turned on 24 hours a day.

In other words, using natural gas at the same price can buy twice as much heat as electricity, but it is ultimately wasted in time. Therefore, in actual applications, the usage costs of electric floor heating and gas water floor heating are indeed almost the same. Electric floor heating is more expensive in terms of price, while water floor heating is more expensive in terms of time. This depends on family usage habits.

 3. Maintenance Issues

Electric floor heating does not require any maintenance and has a lifespan of 50 years. The effect is almost the same no matter how many years it is used. However, the thermostat needs to be replaced regularly, and once it is damaged, it requires overall modification and cannot be repaired.

But water floor heating is different. The furnace has carbon deposits and scale, and the thermal efficiency is getting lower and lower. If the pipes contain scale, impurities, and biological mud, it is best to have them professionally cleaned every two or three years. Boilers and water distributors require regular maintenance. Today's floor heating is relatively mature, and the service life of water floor heating floor heating pipes can reach 50 years. The most important thing is to find a professional master and a good brand before decoration to avoid water leakage later.

Generally speaking, for families with small apartments, non-central heating, and those who are not at home much during the day, it is recommended to choose electric heaters. On the contrary, it is more suitable to choose water heating.
